I was born in St. Louis, Missouri where I was raised and graudated high school. I attended college in southwest Missouri where I graduted from Missouri State University with a Bachelor's degree in History and a Master's degree in Education. I lived in Athens, Greece for 16 months which opened my eyes to many diverse cultures and opportunities.
I have been in Texas since 2002 and taught at Bay City High School for 14 years. While there I taught World Geography, World History, Pre-AP World History, US History, AP US History, Dual US History, Government/Politics, AP Government/Politics, Dual US Government, Dual Texas Government, Economics, and AP Economics. This is my fifth year at Willowridge High School and I learned so much more working here. My primary purpose is to help the students in this school gain the skills they need to tackle the STAAR test, AP Exam, and be career and college ready.
I am a Staff Developer for AVID, where I teach other teachers how to implement high engagement strategies into their lessons and I am also a reader for the Advanced Placement exam for U.S. Government and Politics.
This year at Willowridge I am teaching US History, US Government as well as two sections of AP United States History (APUSH) as well as one section of US Government for Dual College Credit through HCC. I am also one of the two new Professional Learning Leads here on WHS campus. That means I will be working with other teachers to provide assistance to make other classrooms more student centered and rigorous.
