Hello, my name is Monika Saad Saoud! I am happy to be teaching first grade at Mission West Elementary! I am a graduate of Lamar University with my Masters in Administration and am an alumni of U of H for interdisciplinary Studies EC-6th Grade, as well as an alumni of North Bennett Street School in Boston for Fine Furniture Making. This year marks my nineteenth year working in Education in Texas with seven in Fort Bend and twelve in Katy. I have also served throughout the years as a tutor in reading and writing, owned and directed a daycare, and served as a woodworking teacher and furniture maker in my younger years as a native Bostonian.
I am married twenty-eight years and have two children. My son is a graduate of Texas A&M with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He will be attending medical school while my daughter continues working on her nursing degree. As you can see, my family and I truly value education and the arts!
An old saying I believe in is “It takes a village to raise a child”. I will surely take part in that for each child by providing an exciting learning environment where the tools and support to achieve academic success and to carry out their dreams will be nurtured.
Please assist me by reading alongside your child each night, assisting your child with the homework to grow further, and by becoming a parent volunteer. Children thrive and achieve more when they see their parents valuing education and working alongside them to grow. The main objective for young learners in K-2 is learning-to-read so they may later read-to-learn. My hope is that your child will come to enjoy the adventures, stories, and wealth of knowledge that books offer and to become life-long learners.
I look forward to teaching your child and having a terrific year!
Monika Saad Saoud
