Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Kevin Yager

After graduating from The University of Northern Iowa, I began my teaching career in 1988. Schools have certainly changed over the years, and I’ve continued to learn, improve, and grow just like my students. After a brief hiatus, I am excited to begin my 32nd year of teaching, my 2nd at Barbara Jordan Elementary School. Most of my career has been teaching Math and Math/Science at the 4th - 6th grade levels. In addition I have served in the role of Math Interventionist, as well as having taught computer competencies and intro to computer science.

Teaching is my passion, but I also love to travel and be outdoors hiking, cycling, or enjoying the beach.

I adore my two adult children, Benjamin and Heather. Ben will be a Junior at The University of Illinois this year. My wife, Francy is the apple of my eye. Outside of school, you will rarely find me anywhere without her. Barbara Jordan Elementary School is an amazing place for kids to learn and grow, and I am thankful to be a a part of it!
