BA French/English - Stephen F. Austin State University ESL K-12 8-12 ELAR 4-8 ELAR K-6 Science of Teaching Reading

Mrs. Caroline LeBlanc

Caroline LeBlanc has a passion for working with emergent bilingual students in FBISD.  She has taught English as a Second Language to students from all over the world since 1994.  Most of her teaching career has been dedicated to teaching middle school and high school, first at Sugar Land Middle School, then at Austin High School, and finally at FBISD’s Language Center at Progressive High School.  For the last five years, she has served as a Sheltered Instruction Specialist for Science in the STEM department and then Newcomer Specialist in the Multiligual department of FBISD’s Teaching and Learning Division.

Holding a BA in French from Stephen F. Austin State University prepared her to understand the experience of learning a new language and culture.  Masters-level coursework at the University of St. Thomas and Alternative Certification through the Region IV Teacher Certification Program allowed her to research and study how students learn English as a second language in the United States and in Texas.

From her earliest experience as a teacher, Mrs. LeBlanc recognized the passion for learning in her students, and how attention to their social, cultural, emotional, and academic needs could support them in realizing their educational goals. As ESL teacher at Baines Middle School, she plans to put her experience to work serving all emergent bilingual students and their families, as well as supporting teachers in providing Second Language Acquisition strategies to support their students.
