Hi! My name is Paul McMillan but call me Mr. Mac. I am excited to be joining Neills's fifth grade team for the 2022-2023 school year. 

I grew up in Houston and I am proud to call myself a native Houstonian.  As a child, I attended Katy Schools, being the son of a Katy teacher.  I ultimately graduated from Subiaco Academy in Subiaco, AR but still consider myself a Katy Tiger at heart.  I have had the opportunity to travel to a few interesting places as a Marine and have had the pleasure of living on both the East Coast and the West Coast of the United States.  Still, nothing fills my heart more than coming home to work with your children in our community that I call home.

I have had the amazing opportunity to teach all subject areas in multiple grades, but I am elated to be teaching English in 5th grade to our Longhorns.  I am passionate about teaching young children the value of reading, writing, the value of their self-expression, and the value of understanding other people's self-expression.  I have a degree in English Literature with an minor in World History.  

Before coming back home to Houston, I was a single father to 3 daughters,  The first, Claudia graduated from Texas A&M, the second, Maggie, graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University, the third is attending Northwestern and playing collegiate soccer.  I live at home here with 2 big dogs, Ollie and Nova, and a 15-pound Maine Coone cat named Leo.

I am looking forward to this year and I have really high expectations that we are going to have a great year!
