Degrees and Certifications:

Bachelor of Arts, History Master of Education, Educational Leadership and Administration

Mr. James Norman

I am a 2003 graduated of Austin College where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Military History.  In 2015, I earned my Masters of Education degree from Lamar University focusing on Educational Leadership and Administration.  I am a brand new Travis Tiger, but bring 17 years of social studies teaching experience to my classroom from across the state.

I focus on being a content specialists, ensuring that history is taught through a broad glass of multiple cultures, ideas and experiences, that history is ours to share and learn from.  I focus on creating skills and positive educational practices to ensure all students experience success, not just in the classroom at Travis High School, but for post-high school educational opportunities as well as for the curveballs life sends our way.

I am a firm believer in accountability and hold high expectations for all students.  All students can learn, and all students can become masters of their particular skill set, and I will do everything I can to ensure that they experience that success and mastery within the realm of history.

Due to my schedule, the best way to contact me is through email, so please do not hesitate to send one if you have any questions regarding material, assignments, or just general questions.  If I do not get back to you within 24 hours during the week, please do not hesitate to send a second email, inboxes can get cluttered and I may have overlooked your first email.  \
