The Dulles High School Speech and Debate Team is dedicated to teaching students the importance of communication, research, and critical thinking skills. Students will have an opportunity to learn skills that are vital to understanding major issues that impact our world and discussing their ideas in a logical and mature fashion.
Major Events & Activities:
2-4 Tournaments each month from September to February. The team participates in tournaments in the Fort Bend, Houston, Katy and Rosenberg areas. Students also have the opportunity to qualify for several state and national tournaments that take place in March, April and May. A tournament schedule with specific dates is handed out at the beginning of the school year.
Every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 2:45-4:30 during debate season. TBA during other times. All meetings are held in C111 and are communicated through the Debate Remind.
Attend ALL mandated meetings and practices. Students competing in their first year of debate are expected to attend at least 4 tournaments throughout the year. Students who are in their second, third or fourth year of debate are expected to attend at least 6 tournaments. There is a supply fee to participate in debate. However, we do realize that there are extenuating circumstances that affect some students. Please do not hesitate to discuss the supply fee with the sponsor at the beginning of the year.
