Greetings Viking Families!

Welcome to 2nd Grade! My name is Crystal Burton and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! I am looking forward to getting to know each of your families and partnering with you throughout the school year. This year will be filled with learning, fun, and most importantly growth, not only academically but also socially!

This year will mark my 9th year as a classroom educator. As an educator and advocate for children, I believe all students are capable of learning. It is my aim to find how each individual student learns best and create a plan that works for all students. I am passionate about igniting a joy of learning in all students. I model my teaching philosophy on the words of a very wise educator, Rita Pierson, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” 

I am originally from EL Paso, TX. I graduated from the best university in Texas, Stephen F. Austin State University! Axe'em Jacks! In my sparetime I enjoy reading, crafting and spending time with my family. I am also an active participant in my community and enjoy giving back and participating in community service projects.
