Teacher Certification- State of Texas 4-8 Science GT Certified B.S. in Education A.A. Liberal Arts
Hello, my name is Amanda Alcazar. I am a proud graduate of University of Houston where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Education. I have more than 5 years experience in the science classroom. This year I am teaching 7th grade science. I truly enjoy teaching science and showing my students that science is all around us. I work collaboratively with my amazing team to come up with new and exciting ways to teach science concepts to our students. With that said, I take great care in creating student-centered lessons that are creative and incorporate hands-on learning. My favorite part of being an educator is the relationships I get to build with my students. Getting to know their hearts and minds is a privilege that I do not take lightly, as I personally know that these relationships can have a lasting impact.
Outside of school, I am a mother of two wonderful human beings. We are a family of animal lovers and, as such, we have our dog Lucy, Tsuki our cat, and Cammie, our hedgehog. My children have taught me life lessons in unconditional love, acceptance, patience, growth and understanding. We enjoy spending time together outdoors, going hiking, swimming, biking or just hanging out at home reading, watching movies or playing video games. We also love traveling and adventures! I look forward to a wonderful and productive year! Go Longhorns!
