Hello, my name is Amanda Alcazar. I am a proud graduate of University of Houston where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Education. This will be my 4th year in education. I previously taught 8th grade science for 3 years and I am excited to be a part of Baines Middle School this year where I will be teaching 7th grade science. I truly enjoy teaching science and showing my students that science is all around us. I work collaboratively with other educators to come up with new and exciting ways to teach science concepts to our students. With that said, I take great care in creating student centered lessons that are creative and incorporate hands on learning. My favorite part of being an educator is the relationships I get to build with my students. Getting to know their hearts and minds is a privilege that I do not take lightly as I personally know that these relationships can leave a lasting impact.
Outside of school, I am a mother of two wonderful human beings and one fur baby (Lucy). They have taught me life lessons on unconditional love, acceptance, patience, and understanding. My daughter will be a 2nd grader and my son will be a 4th grader this year. We enjoy spending time together outdoors going hiking, swimming, biking or just hanging out at home reading, watching movies or playing video games. I look forward to a wonderful and productive year! Go Longhorns!
