Welcome to First Colony Middle School ELA/Literacy! I am excited to be teaching eighth grade ELA and sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Literacy this year. Most communication for this class will be through Schoology, Teams, Skyward, and our district emails. Please make sure that you and your family have access to all of these platforms. Below, you will find general class information including schedules, units of study, links, and textbook information.
I graduated from the University of Houston in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentrations in education, reading, Latin, history, and geology. I have been teaching for twenty-two years and fourteen of those have been in FBISD. In high school, I was inspired by an amazing teacher to become an educator and an advocate for life-long learning. Supporting students in setting learning goals for themselves and to strive to reach a potential beyond what they can imagine is my life's work.
I have been married for 25 years and have a fifteen-year-old son that attended several FBISD schools but is now playing hockey in upstate New York. My husband and I spend most of our spare time traveling and supporting our son. I love the great outdoors, archeology, reading, and am an avid movie and trivia buff.
