Dr. Riley

Hello!

Welcome to my page. I am so happy that you are here.

I am Dr. Riley and I’m excited to meet you.

This is the beginning of a BEAUTIFUL school year! I am thrilled to be your teacher and look forward to learning and growing with you!

A little about me, I am a native Texan. I grew up in Port Lavaca and then moved to Houston where I finished high school. I went to Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia, where I received my bachelor's in Political Economy. Next, I obtained my master's in curriculum and instruction from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. It was in Atlanta where I began teaching 7th grade ELA and Reading. Upon my return to Houston, I continued my teaching career and obtained an additional Master's from University of Houston Clear Lake in Human Resources Management. Finally, I graduated with my doctorate from Texas A & M University with my Ph. D. in Human Resource Development.

I’ve been married for 20+ years and we have three children (one is a student at RPHS and one attends RTMS with me). My oldest just started at LSU. In addition, we have two dogs and two cats, so we are a family of 9 total. My family loves to travel. We enjoy meeting people and learning about cultures. Personally, I love anything chocolate and ordering from Amazon (Smile. LOL.)

Ultimately, spending time with my family is what I enjoy most because we laugh and joke and have a great time together. My husband was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, so we are big fans of the BRONCOS. (YEAH! Superbowl! DOMINATE!) This year I am also the Dance Coach, so expect to see me on the sidelines with our Sophisticats!

Finally, I am a parent first and then a teacher; therefore, I will love-on, guide, and redirect our darlings because we want and expect them to be successful. GREAT adventures are on the horizons! I am so excited to be a part of the Ronald Thornton Middle School team and thrilled to have 6th grade. I look forward to speaking with you more throughout the school year, but in the meantime, let's have an AMAZING year!

Thanks bunches!
