My name is La Shawna Townsel and I am the Assistant Band Director at Thurgood Marshall High School. I graduated from the University of Houston where I was a member of The Spirit of Houston marching band. I served as flute section leader for three of my four years in the program. I was also a dedicated member and officer of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional music fraternity for women, for two and a half years.  

I am very excited to share my passion for music and performance with the students in the Marshall band. My goal for myself and my students is to always put forth our best effort by demonstrating dedication and hard work (while having fun!). I look forward to a great 2019-2020 school year.
