I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley- in a tiny (if you blink, you will miss it) town called Sebastian. It is about 40 minutes from the border of Mexico. I grew up speaking English and Spanglish (a mix of Spanish and English). I’ve always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I still remember when I would arrange my stuffed animals in my room and “play school!” I would help my mom set up her classroom every year. My passion for teaching motivated me to attend Texas A&M University where I earned my B.S. in interdisciplinary studies with a minor in Spanish in 2007. Shortly after graduating, I began my bilingual teaching career in Cypress- Fairbanks ISD. I taught in that district for ten years and recently moved to Richmond, TX in 2018.
I now live in Richmond, Texas with my husband, Christopher. We have three kids, Cohen, Hadley, and Rylan along with our two Havanese dogs Gizmo and Gali. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching movies, learning how to dance (I wish I was better at it), and getting lost in a good book!
I am so happy to be a part of the Longhorn family and teach at this beautiful campus. I look forward to watching our 2nd grade Longhorns learn, discover, and explore. I can't wait to watch them grow as they discover that reading and writing can be fun.
