This will be Jacob Bori’s second year as the Director of Percussion at Travis High School, and fourth year working with the THS Band program. He works with the program here at Travis and at James Bowie Middle School. Preceding this, Mr. Bori held the position of Assistant Percussion Director at Travis for three years, helping with all aspects of the percussion program. During this time he ran his own private lessons studio (with over 30 students) and worked as a freelance musician, serving as the percussion coordinator for Cinco Ranch Junior High in Katy, Texas.
Mr. Bori holds a Master of Music Performance from the University of Colorado Boulder where he served as a Percussion TA, and a Bachelor’s of Music Performance from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. While in his undergraduate studies, he was a perennial finalist in the chamber music and concerto competitions, and was a finalist in the Ekstrand Graduate Competition at CU-Boulder, placing among other Master's and Doctoral candidates. While in Boulder, Mr. Bori was a founding member of Guerilla Fanfare, a NOLA-style brass band. He currently performs with his percussion trio and plays drumset in an accordion band.
