Mr. Richard E. Van Gilder

I am excited to begin my 25th year of teaching and my seventh year at Schiff Elementary. I have over 20 years of experience teaching students with special needs.  I am a native Houstonian and a wartime Army vet.  I have a daughter in eighth grade.  My wife is a science teacher in Alvin ISD.  She is also in her 25th year of teaching.  I believe in setting high expectations and doing the work necessary to achieve our lofty goals.
