Coach Torres is proud to serve as the first Boys’ Athletic Coordinator and Physical Education Teacher at Thornton Middle School. Coach Torres comes to RTMS after serving as the Head Football Coach/Boys’ Athletic Coordinator at Seven Lakes Junior High School in Katy ISD. He is a native of Odessa, TX and played high school football for the storied Odessa Permian Panthers. After high school, Coach Torres enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as an Airborne Ranger with the Elite 75th Ranger Regiment Special Operations Unit. He served multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and other locations around the world. After completing his service in the armed forces, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Texas-Permian Basin and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria. He is married to Lacey Torres who also teaches at RTMS and has two daughters, Peyton (7 years old) and Dylan (4 years old). Coach Torres is excited and ready for the opportunity to build a Championship Culture at RTMS and to guide his physical education students to an active and healthy lifestyle.
