Mrs. Salazar
Hello! My name is Adriana Salazar and I am the Reading Specialist here at AFE. This is my second year as the Reading Specialist. When I made the transition from classroom teacher to Reading Specialist, I was so excited. It was something new in my professional career but I was ready to embark on a new adventure and I love it! As a Reading Specialist, I teach a Basic Language Skills reading program through Neuhaus Education Center to our dyslexic students in a small group setting. I love the small group setting because it gives me the opportunity to really interact with my students and help them overcome any obstacles that may keep them from being successful readers. Teaching the BLS reading program is challenging at the beginning of the year but rewarding at the end of the year because I’ve seen the progress students have made in Reading.
I have been teaching since 1990 and enjoying every minute of it! There is never a dull moment in my classroom because of all the learning that is going on! This is my 19th year at AFE and what wonderful place to be!
I have a terrific husband and a wonderful set of twins. Brenda and Brandon are 27 years old. They have graduated from college and they are now working in their professions. Brenda has been married for 2 years to our wonderful son-in-law Keaton Henson. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, swimming, going to the movies, outdoor activities and listening to music.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
