My name is Brandie Medina, and I am a proud member of our special education team. This will be my fourth year teaching special education, and my eighteenth year of teaching. I have worked my entire teaching career at the elementary level; I have experience in Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th grade. I am so excited to work at Sienna Crossing Elementary as we are blessed with amazing administrators and teachers. I love my career choice and believe strongly in the power of education. My goal is to help parents and scholars reach their fullest potential.
Currently, I am working on a Doctoral Degree in Higher Education Leadership with a speciality in Social Justice at St. Edward's University in Austin. I graduate in December of 2022. When I am not in the classroom teaching, I enjoy spending quality with my husband (Rahim), kids (Rahmesha, Cam'ron, and Kwame'), and fur baby (Eve). As well, I also enjoy traveling and have been fortunate enough to visit many amazing foreign countries. It is this love of travel and learning about diverse cultures and art that lead me to earn a Master's degree by studying abroad in France.
On a personal note, I am an outdoor and fitness enthusiast and love running, hiking in the mountains, and camping outdoors. Further, I am a professional bodybuilding athlete. I train to compete on a daily basis. When I do have an opportunity to volunteer, I spend my free time at the Houston Area Women’s Center, a living and educational facility for abused and battered women.
