Ms. Wilk, from Rockwall Texas began her dance training at the age of five, at Academy of Dance Arts in Allen, Texas. She was a member of the Dallas Repertoire Ballet and the studio’s pre-professional senior competitive team that won numerous first place, overalls, and national titles at various competitions. Lena performed numerous roles in DRB’s production of the “Nutcracker” including Russian soloist, Chinese demi soloist, Rat King, Snow and Flower. After graduating high school, she attended Collin College receiving her Associates of Arts in Dance. While at Collin she was a member of the Collin Dance Ensemble from 2010 to 2012. During her time with CDE they attended the American College Dance Festival where they were selected to perform in the Gala. In her final year with the company she created a piece entitled “Infinity” that was selected to perform in their spring concert. Ms. Wilk was also the Student Assistant for the Dance Department for two years, working closely with the Dance Department Chair, Tiffanee Arnold.
Ms. Wilk holds her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Education from Texas State University. While at Texas State, she was a member of the student run dance company, Orchesis, and received her high school teaching certificate in dance. Ms. Wilk has recently graduated with her Masters of Fine Arts in Choreography from Jacksonville University in Spring of 2017. Her Thesis work entitled “Memories Encased within our Movements,” is the study of how our past movement memories affect our current and ultimately, our future movement memories utilizing cognitive psychology. Ms. Wilk has almost 10 years teaching experience as a guest choreographer for north Dallas area high schools, as well as a solo dance instructor, student teacher, and dance assistant for private schools and studios.Ms. Wilk is excited and honored to begin her teaching career with the Dulles High School Dolls.
