Ms. Annette Sanford
Hello Hurricane Family! Get ready for a journey to a successful learning experience. I have earned a Master of Science in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas Southern University. I have established eight years of teaching experience from Fort Bend Independent School District (ISD), Spring ISD, and Houston ISD. I validate with Texas Education Agency certification to teach Biology.
I possess a substantial interest in leadership and curriculum mastery throughout my eight years of teaching. Since working in Fort Bend ISD; I have been able to increase The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) awareness for the ninth and eleventh-grade students during the “STAAR Kick-Off Party” and STAAR Pep Rally.” Also, I expand my knowledge to the Biology team in lesson design using data research and appropriate usage of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to identify critical issues to increase learning and skills.
My experience at Spring ISD allowed me to coordinate the First Annual Ninth Grade Girls Conference. The young women attend symposiums of various topics, including “Living Your Best High School Years” and “I Said ‘No’.” The conference includes influential speakers promoting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
My years with Houston ISD allowed leadership roles as Team Leader and Cheer Coach. I led the team as a Data Analysts Coordinator while reviewing previous and past exams and district assessments to increase students academically, social-emotionally, and preparation for college and career readiness. I collaborated with district leaders and campus administrators during the South Houston District Team meetings. The group met once a month to review plans, organize lesson designs, and create exams for the units. Through my leadership, I elevated the Biology STAAR exam third in the district and receiving the highest scores in the Biology department.
With my leadership skills, I extend my talent serving in various community service projects within Fort Bend County, Fort Bend ISD, Harris County, and Galveston County. I coordinate and volunteer clothing and food distribution, host voter registration events, and offer support to the elderly community.
Welcome to Cane Nation!
