My name is Josephine Nkiruka Oteka. I am originally from Nigeria. I have lived in the United States since 1984. I went to Georgia State University for my first degree in Business Administration. I later went on to obtain a degree in Education at St Thomas University in Houston TX. I also earned a Masters degree in School Counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake Houston.
I started my teaching career as a substitute teacher and In 2000 I got a job as a first grade teacher in Alief ISD. I taught first grade in Alief for 12 years, second grade for 2years, and then third grade for one year. It has been an awesome experience and previlege to be given an opportunity to impact knowledge in our children, change destinies and equip them to be life long learners. I believe every child can learn, but at different pace and in different ways. I also believe that the teaching is not just a profession but a calling, because with our hands, feet and voices we impact and change any child's destiny.
For fun I love to spend time with my husband and 3 kids. My favorite pastimes are traveling, watching movies, reading and writing children's stories.
