Hello Cougar Families!

My name is Erika Carroll, and I’m so excited to be your child’s 4th-grade teacher! This is my 6^th year in FBISD, and I previously taught in HISD. My background in education includes teaching 3^rd & 4^th grade ELA and being a literacy instructional coach for the Fort Bend ISD. I attended Pecan Grove Elementary as a child, and it feels good to be back where it all started. I currently live in Pecan Grove with my husband and two children, Derek and Diana, along with our three cats and two dogs.  I enjoy traveling to different places and being surrounded by water in my spare time. I also like to stay busy by fixing things and collecting antiques. I graduated from Houston Baptist University with a double degree in History and Communications.  Both of my parents were educators, which is where I began to love being in a classroom.

My teaching philosophy is to create an equitable learning environment and provide students with the correct tools to succeed. I firmly believe in a visible classroom where students can see their progress toward student-created goals. In my classroom, you will hear students asking questions for clarity, utilizing their resources, and collaborating in a safe space for mistakes and learning to occur.  I genuinely enjoy building relationships with all my students and watching them succeed educationally and personally.  This will be a great semester together, and I cannot wait to meet you all soon!
