Welcome to Arizona Fleming Elementary - Home of the STARS!

My name is Johana Velez, I will be your child's 2nd grade ELA and Social Studies teacher. This is my 17th year in education and my 6th year in FBISD!

This school year I will serve the AFE community as a 2nd grade teacher, Team Leader, and Professional Learning Lead! I love my career as an educator and my purpose is to be a servant leader alongside our students, families, community and staff! 

I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Theories and Elementary Education from Western Governor’s University. Go WGU OWLS!

In my classroom, students will learn that we are a FAMILY!

We explore. We discuss. We collaborate and we grow a little more every day!

When I am not teaching I enjoy exploring nature with my husband, two daughters, granddaughter, two dogs, and my cat. I love coffee, books, animals, and camping!
