Welcome to Rita Drabek Elementary where Dragons Lead with PRIDE! 

My name is Johana Velez, and I am SUPER excited to be your child's 1st grade teacher! This is my 8th year in FBISD and my 19th year in education. 

I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in Educational Theories and Elementary Education from Western Governor’s University. Go WGU OWLS!

In my classroom, students will learn that we are a FAMILY!  In addition to learning, we explore, we collaborate, we build trust and we grow every day! 

When I am not teaching, I enjoy exploring nature with my husband, two daughters, granddaughters, two dogs, and my cat. I love coffee, books, animals, and camping! 

I strongly believe that, as an educator, my purpose is to be a servant leader alongside our students, families, community and staff! 

I look forward to working with you to help our little dragons develop the skills they need to be successful!
