Mrs. Soumi Chakraborti

Hello and welcome! My name is Soumi Chakraborti. This is my second year teaching 7th grade ELA in Dulles Middle School. Prior to joining the awesome team here at Dulles, I was a substitute teacher in Katy ISD and Spring Branch ISD. I have a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Calcutta, India. I have worked as a sub-editor in a university press in India.

As an educator, my primary goal this year include helping students develop a passion for reading and writing, as well as to encourage them to be and do their best, academically, socially and professionally. I want them to be life-long learners. I believe in life-long learning, so my aim is to revamp my instruction each year as I learn new tools and strategies. I also plan to complete a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and earn a Ph.D. I am learning new things every day from my wonderful colleagues and my awesome students. This motivates and excites me to improvise my skills and reach out to my students.

I have lived in the United States for the past twelve years. I live in Katy with my husband of twelve years, our two children, 10 year old boy, 7 year old girl and our very lovely Labrador puppy, Ducky. He is 15 months old.

When I am not teaching, I love to meet my friends and catch up on things I have missed. I love to read and write. My favorite classic is Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. I love to spend time with my family and our dog. I am excited to be a part of Dulles Middle School and its wonderful and diverse community. I look forward to a great academic year.
