Degrees and Certifications:

Master of Music Education (Pending) - University of North Texas Bachelor of Music - University of Houston Certification - All Level Music Suzuki - ECC to Bass Book 1

Mr. Roger Vasquez, Jr.

I have served as an orchestra director at Fort Settlement Middle School since 2016. I earned my Bachelor of Music at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music. My double bass studies were done with Mr. Dennis Whittaker, while my conducting studies were done under Maestro Franz Krager. My collegiate career allowed me to perform with the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, Opera, and Ballet ensembles. While at the University of Houston, I got to travel with the Symphony Orchestra to perform at the 66th Midwest Clinic in Chicago and at the 2013 TMEA Convention in San Antonio. I am currently furthering my education at the University of North Texas in a summer intensive program towards a Master's in Music Education.

My professional affiliations include memberships with the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Orchestra Directors Association, and the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Outside of the orchestra classroom, I am an active private lesson instructor, contest judge, and orchestra clinician throughout the Greater Houston area.

When not teaching or playing an instrument, I love spending time with my girlfriend and our two cats (Momo and Chadwick), cooking new food, traveling the world, and spending time with my family and friends.
