I am so happy to be teaching at Colony Meadows Elementary School! My name is Helen Galor, I was born and educated in London, England where I grew up with my parents and two sisters. While traveling in Israel I met my husband, Dan. We lived in Israel for three years after getting married, and I taught Kindergarten, First and Third grade at the American International School in Tel Aviv. Later we moved to St. Louis, Missouri and then Chicago, where I taught third grade. I took a break from teaching to raise my own children, Rebecca, now 23 (living and working in Austin) , and Alex, 19 (A freshman at university). During that time I studied and completed my master’s degree in Literacy Education at Northern Illinois University.
My husband's work brought us to Houston in 2007, and we now live in New Territory. From 2008, I worked as a substitute teacher in FBISD. After several long term assignments, I finally decided to return to the classroom full time, first as a second grade teacher and now as a 4th grade teacher. This year, I am excited to be teaching ELA & Social Studies again with my fabulous partner Mrs. Meanor (Math & Science). I consider myself very lucky to be at CME teaching your students; helping them feel confident and excited about reading, writing & Texas history. This year our school theme is "Learning....the incredible journey". I am looking forward to our 4th grade journey together!
