Greetings, I am honored to teach Principles of Human Services at Sugar Land Middle School. S.L.M.S. has been my home for many years. The students are my inspiration. I truly enjoy teaching eighth graders! Our classroom is centered around valuable hands-on experiences. For example, in the food and nutrition lab, students learn safety, scientific principles, math skills, teamwork, reading skills and food preparation techniques. The students love to cook and experiment with kitchen science. In the fashion design studio, the students create one-of-a-kind sewing projects. Some of the projects designed and constructed felt buddies, truly magic pillowcases, and a fantastic backsacks/utility bag. Interior design will present opportunities to create using the elements of design. Child Development the Family Life Cycle Unit assists with learning about topics within the Human Servcies career fields. Long-term and short-term goal setting is stressed throughout the curriculum. Students are presented assignments and expected to manage skills and time to complete each task. Career skills are an integral part of our classes. The students are proud of their fantastic projects and new skills. I am proud of my students!
Each day, I look forward to providing creative learning experiences that inspire students to imagine futures with great successes. The students are excited to receive a high school credit upon completion of Principles of Human Services. The high school GPA will be impacted through the grade in PHS. This new class is filled with creative, interactive, and educational skills within the Human Services pathway. PHS is a principles class that leads to additional high school endorsements.
The Human Services classes are examples of Fort Bend ISD's motto to "Inspire, Equip, and Imagine!"
