I am Ms. Davis and I am proud to be a 5th grade teacher at EA Jones Elementary. I have always loved learning and come from a family that is involved in several aspects of education at various levels. An education is so powerful and every child deserves a teacher that knows it and believes in their potential to gain that power.
As the daughter and granddaughter of teachers, I have been involved in classrooms for a very, very long time! My upbringing caused me to initially seek out any road that would keep me out of the classroom. When it came to teaching, my mind was telling me to stay away, but my heart has always led me to educating others. I earned by bachelor's degree and master's degree from the University of Houston with the intention of training and educating adults in the corporate world. My desire to work with children grew year after year and was immensely intensified after I had my daughter.
I am currently in my fifth year of teaching fifth grade at EA Jones and know I am exactly where I should be at the point in my life. I grew up in this area of Missouri City. My older brothers actually attended EA Jones. My parents still live in this area, and I am honored to be in a position to be able to make a positive impact on this community.
I know that each child is valuable and an education will help them move into their purpose in life. I believe that every student has the ability and desire to learn, and it is my responsibility to do my part to help them achieve and surpass their goals. William Butler Yeats said, "Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire." I hope to add fuel to the fire that these children will use to change the world.
