Public Information

  • Fort Bend ISD, as a local governmental entity, is subject to the requirements of the Texas Public Information Act.

Texas Government Code 552.002(a) defines "public information" as information collected, assembled, or maintained under a law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business by a governmental body, or for a governmental body if the government body owns the information or has a right of access to it.

Public information may be requested from Fort Bend ISD via the Public Information Department. It is important to note that governmental entities are not required to respond to questions via the Texas Public Information Act; however, if available, records that would provide the answers to posed questions will be provided if not excepted from release via statute.

Fill out the Record Request form to submit a request.

NOTICE: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Bend ISD Administration has suspended normal business operations and closed its campuses and administrative offices to the public.  This closure will affect the District's response to requests for information under the Texas Public Information Act ("TPIA").

Pursuant to the TPIA, government agencies must respond to requests for information within 10 business days.  The definition of "business day" specifically excludes days on which a governmental body's administrative offices are closed.  When Fort Bend ISD resumes normal operations, all pending requests for information under the TPIA will be processed in accordance with law and guidance from the Attorney General.

For more information on the calculation of business days under the TPIA, please visit the website of the Attorney General at
