Through a partnership with Junior Achievement (JA), FBISD uses JA’s “Your Career, Your Future” presentation, along with an interactive JA board game, “Balance, Break Even or Broke” which gives students hands-on budgeting experience.
"Your Career, Your Future" focuses eighth-grade students on the importance of education and career planning and prepares them for the transition to life after high school. Students are encouraged to align educational programs with their plans for the military, community college, technical college, four-year university, or the workforce.
"Your Career, Your Future" presentations are made by business partners in the district’s eighth-grade classrooms during Middle School Career Day
. The strength of the presentations is an interactive discussion format that includes starting salaries and a budget exercise presented by a “real life” business person.
