Meadows Elementary Reconstruction: 2019-20 School Year Announcement
Meadows Elementary students to attend Barrington Place Elementary during construction of new school.
In November of 2018, Fort Bend ISD approved a bond program that included funding for the reconstruction of Meadows Elementary. Demolition of the current school is planned to begin during the summer of 2019, with construction of the new school to follow. This process is expected to take approximately a year and a half, and during this time, Meadows Elementary students and staff will be housed at Barrington Place Elementary.
To best support students and staff, Meadows Elementary will be housed as a “school within a school,” where students and teachers will remain together as a Meadows family. All students who live within the Meadows attendance boundaries will receive transportation to BPE, free of charge.
This webpage provides answers to some Frequently Asked Questions.
Will students who live within the Meadows Elementary attendance boundaries have a teacher from Meadows Elementary?
Yes. All Meadows Elementary students will be taught by Meadows Elementary teachers in classrooms with other Meadows Elementary students.
Will Meadows Elementary have its own principal and administrative staff?
Yes. While Meadows Elementary administrators and staff will collaborate to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, they will operate as two different campuses with their own administrative teams. Front office staff members will share space, but each school will have their own administrators and office spaces.
Where will the Meadows Elementary classrooms be located?
The principals of Barrington Place Elementary and Meadows Elementary are working together to identify locations for all students by grade level. Grade-level teams will be assigned to the same hallways within the building, and a modular building will provide a few additional classrooms for the older students.
What safety precautions will be in place for students and staff who are housed in the modular buildings?
Safety is always Fort Bend ISD’s top priority, and staff works collaboratively with campus personnel to ensure safety procedures are in place for students assigned to a temporary or modular building. These classrooms are to remain locked at all times. The modular building at Barrington Place Elementary will have its own corridor and restrooms, and staff will escort them to and from the main building during morning arrivals, lunch and dismissal time.
Meadows Elementary administrators will also develop a new Emergency Operations Plan to specify plans for inclement weather. Staff in the modular building will have access to the buildings intercom, phones and radios to communicate with Meadows Elementary staff in the main building.
