My name is Rebecca Heinly and I am a proud member of Sienna Crossing’s third grade team. I lived most of my life in South Florida, therefore, I do consider myself a Native Floridian. I attended college at The University of Florida (Go Gators!!) where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I, then, went on to Florida Atlantic University where I completed my Master’s Degree in Education. I began my teaching career at Tamarac Elementary School in Florida as a first grade teacher. I continued there for six years until the year 2000 when my son Jordan was born. At that time I made a career move to become a Stay-at-Home Mommy. I enjoyed that job for the next 7 years, taking care of my son Jordan (now 18) and my daughter Emma (now 15). During that time we made the move to Texas and built our house in Sienna Plantation. When Emma was ready for Kindergarten, I was ready to head back into the classroom. I was so lucky to begin the next chapter of my career, teaching second grade at Sienna Crossing and just as lucky to have my children attend school here as well. I truly believe it is the BEST school ever! I love that I am able to focus on the subjects I am most passionate about every day, now, as a third grade reading, language arts, and social studies teacher. I am also presently the team leader of my wonderful grade level. My partner, Kari Bull, does a fabulous job teaching our kids math and science. We work together like a well-oiled machine. It is such a joy to watch my students grow as readers and thinkers throughout the year. I always tell them that the reading strategies they will learn in my class will benefit them for life. It is amazing to watch their love for reading blossom. There is no doubt that to provide a child with the best possible education we must all work together as a team! I am always available if you need me because I know together we can successfully foster a love of learning in your child. Thank you so much for all of your support!
