Child Nutrition hosts its annual epicurean event and food tasting (2/17/2017)
Fort Bend ISD (February 17, 2017) – Fort Bend’s Child Nutrition Department hosted its 24th annual food tasting event, “Super Bowl of Nutrition for our Super Stars of Tomorrow,” in January at Clements High School. Students, parents and staff were invited to sample some of the tasty items offered during breakfast and lunch. Along with the things currently being offered, there were also items that could be offered for next school year. And this was not just a time to eat and drink; everyone was asked to assess the samples in order to help Child Nutrition decide what to offer students.
Rebecca Feges, the District’s dietician, said many of the District’s food vendors share their new food items with students during the District event. The department provided guests with survey cards in order for students and parents to share their feedback. More than 20 vendors participated in the event, and Child Nutrition created a display of healthy food options to show parents and students how to have a nutritious breakfast and lunch.
