FBISD rolls out red carpet and names winners in 2017 Film Fest (4/13/2017)
FORT BEND ISD (April 13, 2017) – FBISD’s Digital Learning Department rolled out the red carpet as they welcomed student filmmakers, and their many fans (including parents and school staff) to the second annual FBISD Film Festival. Held April 6 at Dulles High School’s Rodgers Auditorium, the event showcased and awarded student-produced films that captured the creativity and skill of the participating filmmakers.
Brian Shillingburg, Principal at Bowie Middle School, served as Master of Ceremonies; and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Phillys Hill offered the welcome. Presenting awards were: Digital Learning Director Lynette Meyer and Coordinators Corlette Hill and Dr. Allegra McGrew; students Abreah Collins (Lake Olympia Middle School) and Maryam Kazmifar (Travis High School), Shillingburg and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dupre.
This year’s Film Fest named 18 first-place winners in five categories (including Animation, Campus Challenge, Documentary, Narrative and 60-Second Short), as well as three Best Picture awards at each school level. Also recognized were first-place winners of the 48-Hour Challenge fall competition.
