1. Substitute Requirements

• All applications must be completed and submitted on-line.  The website is www.fortbendisd.com (click on Employment, then click Teacher Vacancies, then click apply on line).

• Minimum of 60* college hours required.  A Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • *College students who are education majors may apply with 45 college hours

• Copies of the transcript should be submitted to the HR office as soon as possible after the time the application is submitted on-line.

  • Note:  Copies of transcripts are scanned into our applicant on-line system.  (Copies only, please, as transcripts are scanned and shredded)  At the time of employment, an official copy of the transcript must be submitted for the employee file.

2. Substitute Pay Rates

• Non-degreed, Bachelor's degree or higher - $75/day
• TX Certified teachers - $85/day
• Long-term substitutes - $75/$85 a day
  • After 10 days - $110 a day
  • After 30 days - $150 (only if TX certified in the same subject area as the teacher on leave)

3. Substitute Interview Process

• The District's Substitute Roundup is scheduled several times a year.  Invitations to interview will be mailed to selected substitute applicants (For more information, contact Deborah.Cooper@fortbendisd.com or Kenneth.Blanche@fortbendisd.com).  Selected substitute applicants should plan to attend the substitute orientation from 8:00 a.m. until noon.

***Substitute Teachers are NOT ELIGIBLE for any employee wage and  health benefits.  Substitute Teachers are NOT ELIGIBLE for employment compensation during any school holidays and/or breaks including summer breaks.
