MATH INSTRUCTIONAL SPECIALIST - SECONDARY Job #2022 (Re-Post)  

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Works closely with the curriculum department and building principal to facilitate the effective delivery of curriculum and instruction on campus assigned, and serves as a resource for the teachers by recommending teaching strategies and providing direct service in curriculum and staff development

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in secondary education, with a major in designated content area

• Teacher Certification

• Three years experience as a teacher in the identified content area

JOB GOALS:

Provides assistance to the classroom teacher in planning effective instruction for students; assists in the implementation of the five-step data analysis process in data teams; coaches classroom teachers in effective classroom management; models teaching techniques for teachers in the classroom in various ways, such as demonstration teaching; delivers math instruction to small groups of students; assists in the orientation of new mathematics teachers in the school; assists in the preview and selection of instructional materials; assists in preparing requisitions for instructional materials; previews and evaluates software for computer sites; assists in the development and implementation of the staff development program in the designated content area and/or grade level; develops, reviews, implements, and monitors district-wide curriculum objectives and assessments in identified content area and/or grade; monitors the implementation of the curriculum; assists teachers in using the on-line curriculum regularly in their planning.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 210 days
• Assignment begins 2008-09 School Year

SALARY RANGE:

• Teacher Pay Grade 7 - Salary according to experience and qualifications
