INTERPRETER FOR THE DEAF (BEI certified)
REGIONAL DAY SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THE DEAF (RDSPD)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the direction of the classroom teacher: Interpret/translate for students
with hearing impairment in instructional settings, provide general classroom
instructional support, perform other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED equivalency;
Associate’s degree or higher related to interpreting or the field of deafness preferred;
Certificate in interpreting issued by either the Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services or the Registry of Interpreters;
Letter of permit from the Texas Education Agency;
Experience in working with children preferred.
JOB GOALS:
Accurately interpret/translate for students with hearing impairment in an instructional setting; participate as a member of the instructional team to develop and implement appropriate IEP goals for hearing impaired students; assist the classroom teacher in developing and implementing instructional materials and activities to include one on one and small group settings.

SALARY RANGE:
Pay Grade 11 –
Salary according to experience and qualifications
Stipends: Level 1- $2,000.00, Level II- $2,500.00, Level III - $3,000.00,
Level IV - $3,500.00
