HOME VISITOR FOR EVEN START PROGRAM Job# 2237

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To make home visits to Even Start families for the purpose of providing parenting training and providing appropriate activities to both the parents and children.  To coordinate, schedule and to keep accurate records of all home visits.  Maintain a database on all families for input into ACES, PEIMS system and TEA quarterly reports.  Meet regularly with the adult and children’s teachers to ensure continuity of program.  Make and conduct the Home Visits to Even Start families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Sociology or related field

• Experience working in the field Family Literacy, Education and Social Work

• Knowledge of effective parenting practices

• Ability to communicate effectively with families both orally and in written form

• Experience working in the field of Social Work or Education

• Experience in working with family literacy programs

• Must have reliable transportation to go to visit program campus sites and parent homes

• Ability to establish a positive supportive and working relationship with staff, immigrant families and indigent families

• Spanish Fluency (preferred)

JOB GOALS:

Coordinate and schedule home visits with assigned families; conduct home visits with families; Keep accurate records of all home visits; meet regularly with the adult and children’s teachers to ensure continuity of program; recruit program participants; prepare monthly reports of visits; convey knowledge and information to others regarding programs available in the district; report to Program Manager; assist in the registration of families who are interested in adult education services; serve on the selection committee for Even Start Families; conducts orientation and intake for prospective families; knowledge of effective parenting practices; ability to establish a positive, supportive and working relationship with staff, immigrant families and indigent families; conduct school readiness assessments on children 3 to 6 years old; conduct developmental screens on children; conduct Home Inventories on families. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 226 days

SALARY RANGE:

• Pay Grade 11- Salary according to experience and qualifications
