DIRECTOR - INTERNAL AUDIT Job# 1829

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Individuals assigned to this position manage and direct the activities of the Internal Audit Department. Those activities are concerned with independent internal audits of the District and may include audits of District vendors, contractors, licensees, and others as required. The work requires expertise in the areas of internal auditing, including financial and operational audit functions. Work is conducted independently within established District policies and procedures and within professional guidelines for internal auditing and managerial accounting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration from an accredited college or university 

• At least seven years experience in accounting and auditing with a public accounting firm, or seven years experience as an Internal Auditor, or a combination of those experiences.  This experience should include at least five years of experience at the in-charge auditor level or higher. 

• Accreditation as a Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Public Accountant.

JOB GOALS:

Report functionally to the Board of Trustees and administratively to the Superintendent of the school District; develop and execute an annual audit report to be presented to the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent.  Report to the Board of Trustees and the Superintendent each June and request approval of the following year’s audit schedule; meet as frequently as necessary with the Board of Trustees in a manner consistent with state law; submit periodic status reports to the Superintendent and meet on a regular basis to stay apprised of significant findings as they arise; confer with the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees on policies, programs, and activities of the Internal Audit Department; make recommendations regarding specific areas of responsibility.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 226 days

SALARY RANGE:

• Pay Grade 17 - Salary according to experience and qualifications
