DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: QUALIFICATIONS:
This individual will be responsible for managing SQL Server
databases, performing SQL server administration, Database performance tuning,
database security, maintaining and troubleshooting all scheduled jobs including
DTS (Data Transformation Services) tasks on SQL Servers. DBA will also be
responsible for supporting the application development team in designing,
modeling and creating databases, stored procedures, triggers etc., and moving
all database objects to the production environment. DBA will also be responsible
to make sure that development, and staging production database environments are
maintained and up to date and a disaster recovery plan is in place.
Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems or related technical field and/or Microsoft Certified DBA (MCDBA) required
Minimum Experience:
2+ years in Information Technology, Software Development
1+ years SQL, and SQL programming techniques
1+ years Extraction, Transformation, and Load programming skills
1+ years SQL Server, 2000/2005 experience
1+ years Microsoft programming environment, including MS Data Transformation Services (DTS)
Experience Client interviewing and research
Advanced relational database design and development
Data modeling & Data migration scripting
Technical documentation
Knowledge and some programming in .net environment
JOB GOALS:
Prepare project plans and schedules for database-related implementation and support efforts; communicate regularly with internal technical, applications and operational staff, as appropriate, in order to ensure the database integrity, security and availability; recover corrupted data; eliminate data redundancy; use tuning tools to improve database performance; maintain physical data models from logical data models; implement and maintain physical database systems; ensure that test data (development environment) is current and functioning; perform tuning of the relational database management systems and related application databases; assist development staff for applications design and development, specifically for transaction design, data warehouse systems, client-server applications, etc; evaluate database management systems and related tool sets; monitor assigned organization operational and development projects to ensure consistency and satisfaction of database support requirements
