GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This is paraprofessional work, which requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks and carrying out instructional procedures as directed by the classroom teacher.  Must have the ability to work with students with various ability levels and disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 48 college hours

• Ability to understand written and oral instructions

• Ability to communicate and work with others in a positive manner

• Ability to follow teacher’s planned program

JOB GOALS:

Provides instructional support to the classroom teacher; assists with record keeping, preparation and development of instructional materials, and bulletin board displays; provides coverage for the classroom during teacher meetings; operates a variety of classroom instructional equipment, including but not limited to computers, audiovisual equipment, and video equipment; works cooperatively with the classroom teacher; provides required childcare for student safety; monitors student behaviors; assists with various safety drills, feeding requirements, toileting, changing diapers, catheterizing, and medication needs; secures necessary medical attention when needed; maintains confidentiality of student information.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 184 days

SALARY RANGE:
