MASTER MECHANIC Job# 1988

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs highly skilled automotive mechanic work in the maintenance and repair of either school buses or other motorized vehicles of the school district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Class A Commercial Driver's license
• Texas School Bus Driver Certification
• Knowledge of school bus and support vehicle maintenance procedures
• Extensive light and medium duty vehicle repair (gasoline and diesel)

JOB GOALS:

Tests, diagnosis, and locates automotive problems through operation of testing and diagnostic equipment and through inspection and road testing;  maintains, repairs and/or replaces diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions and differentials, hydraulic and air brake systems, power steering systems, ignition and electrical systems, computer and electronic control systems, air conditioning and heating systems; performs tune-ups and other preventative maintenance tasks; Obtains and/or orders parts, materials and supplies; conducts vehicle inspections as required by the state and issues certifies vehicle safe inspector decals.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• 261 days

SALARY RANGE:

• Pay Grade 49 - Salary according to experience and qualifications
