Grants in Action include the following - "Major Metric" allowed teachers to explain the 5 simple concepts of metric
measurment to children in a fun and entertaining musical way. Some of the songs in this musical production include "Skinny Millimeter", and "Major Metric Math".
"Big Books, Bringing Back Once Upon A Time" This project is aimed at shared reading, in which the teacher and children read an enlarged
text (big book) together. Repeated readings of big book with direct instruction and modeling by the teacher empower students to master concepts about print.
The shared reading experience is a key tool to developing fluency and expression in reading.
