STAAR/TAKS Testing
Beginning with the 2011 - 2012 school year, students in grades 3 - 9 will participate in the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR). Exams in grades 3 - 8 are grade-level assessments. Students in grade 9 and students not in high school but enrolled in a high school core academic course will participate in the End of Course component of STAAR.
Students enrolled in grades 10 or 11 will still participate in the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Additionally, students in grade 12 who have not met the passing standard on at least one of the subject assessments will be given three opportunities during the school year to pass those exams.
