40 Developmental Assets

Fort Bend ISD encourages our community to learn about the 40 Developmental Assets. Research by the Search Institute has identified 40 concrete positive experiences and qualities that have a tremendous influence on young people from all walks of life and has named these factors the “40 Developmental Assets.”

The driving force behind the 40 Developmental Assets™ is that everyone has the power to impact young people’s lives. Youth need to receive consistent positive messages about values and their potential from many sectors of the community, including, but not limited to, family members, schools, civic organizations, businesses and medical providers.”

Everyone can be an Asset Builder for young people. Even being involved in a small way can make a big difference.
