READY, SET, TEACH II –12
Prerequisite: Successfully completed Ready, Set, Teach I, 17 years of age, teacher approval for admission, be able to provide own transportation to elementary campus, and possess a social security number.
This course is designed for students interested in further exploring teaching as a profession and to continue developing their teaching skills. The course will be a structured combination of classroom instruction at the TEC and an interactive non-paid internship at a FBISD elementary or middle school campus. Students will continue building their professional portfolios initiated to Ready, Set, Teach I; through their field experiences students will begin to develop all facets of their classroom teaching skills, including: classroom management, lesson planning, professional reflection, leadership development and role modeling. This course is similar to the initial postsecondary teacher education courses taught at various colleges and universities.
