+* FIREFIGHTER I COLLEGE NOW – 11 or 12 Grade
Prerequisites: Passing TAKS in the 10th grade in order to receive college credit.
Cost: Fees required per semester for college credit
This advanced level course is designed for students interested in a career and post-secondary education in the fire science and rescue field. Objectives to be covered are rules and regulations, fire science, personal protective equipment, ropes-knots-hitches, portable fire suppression, forcible entry, fire service ground ladders-hoses, salvage-overhaul, ventilation, rescue, inspections, water supplies, hazardous materials awareness, emergency service communications, self contained breathing apparatus and building construction. This course is offered as college and high school credit. It is in a sequence of courses which can be offered for dual credit. This is a two hour course offered at the Technical Education Center.
