Culinary Arts 1 CF2531/CF2532 This program is part of a nationally sponsored program called ProStart that is written by the National Restaurant Association. It provides students with a school-to-career program in Culinary Arts that combines school-based learning and workplace instruction as well as sanitation training called ServSafe. Students gain experience in the world of work and establish connections to a range of postsecondary options through the ProStart program and can also become ServSafe and ProStart licensed. The program consists of a first year of school-based laboratory and classroom instruction. Students purchase and wear a chefs’ uniform in the lab. Cost is approximately $60.00. This class meets 2 periods each day.
Culinary Arts 2 CF2631/CF2632 Prerequisites: Culinary Arts 1, age 17, Social Security number and transportation to work sites. The second year of the course revolves around skilled entry-level paid internship in local restaurants and country clubs as well as employee evaluations and input in their training. Each student provides his/her own uniform as required by the work site. This class meets 2 periods each day.
