Welcome to Regional Day School Program for the Deaf

The Brazoria-Fort Bend Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD) provides educational services for students ages 0-21 who have been identified as having significant hearing impairments. These students meet Texas Education Agency criteria for eligibility as Auditorially Impaired and typically have hearing losses ranging from moderate to profound. A variety of Co-op services are available including itinerant support, in-home training for parents with hearing-impaired infants, special classes for deaf students, speech therapy, counseling and audiological services. Our instructional programming includes utilization of both Oral and Total Communication philosophies.

Member school districts include Alief, Angleton, Brazosport, Columbia-Brazoria, Damon, Danbury, Fort Bend, Kendleton, Lamar Consolidated, Needville, Stafford and Sweeny. An Advisory Board comprised of member districts’ Superintendents and Special Education Directors governs the Co-op. The Co-op provides instructinal programs designed to meet individual student needs at every grade level. Use of residual hearing, speech skill development, auditory training and speech reading are stressed at all levels of the program.
