School Hours
All students attend school from 8:00-3:00. The doors open at 7:30 am and any child not in their seat when the 8:00 bell rings is tardy. On days of heavy rainfall we extend the tardy time based on the line of cars.

Message from the Principal
Our motto this year is "Together We Shine!" Sugar Mill is a TEA Exemplary School, and we want to continue to achieve at levels beyond the TAKS test. We received Gold Performance Acknowledgements for having over 30% of all children, in each group, score at the commended level (90%+) in Reading, Writing, Math, and Science. We are very proud of this focus on advanced achievement. In all subjects, in all areas, in every grade, we want to provide a challending and enriching curriculum. Our goal is increased student achievement in all areas. We also examine how we stand in the Just 4 the Kids rankings, striving to place at the top of our comparable school group. Beth Graham, Principal

Birthdays at Sugar Mill
On your child's birthday, their name is announced and they receive a birthday pencil and good wishes from the principal. We do not deliver food, party invitations, treats, flowers, balloons, or gifts.
Absences
When a student is absent they must bring a note when they return to school. On a full sheet of paper, please include the date or dates of the absence, the child’s name, reason for the absence and the teacher’s name. If the note is not received after two days of the absence, it automatically becomes an "unexcused absence." Repeated unexcused absences become a truancy issue. Please help avoid this by sending the note when your child returns. Thank you!
